Summer's Arrived!!

Yep Summers arrived and so have the tourists!! Which is great for Spain after the nitemare of the last year and half. Its great to see people on the beach, in the sea and making the business's busy again. Bring it on thats what I say.

COVID... I think we are all sick to death of hearing that word now eh? Things have eased a little bit over here. We don't have to wear masks in open spaces but we still do in shops, bars and restaurants. Live music is allowed now as well but no dancing!!! What is that all about??

Anyway the sun is out here in sunny Spain and my god its hot hot hot!! I forgot just how hot July can get. With it being July our Municipal Pool is open again. Fantastic!! Because of the dreaded Covid we have to book online as no cash is to change hands on the gate.

Its a bargain price of 2euros a day and you can buy 10 for the price of 8. Download the app Sporttia and bobs your uncle.

The pool is open every day bar Mo from 10-2pm and then again from 4-8pm.

The next village on in Los Montesinos they also have a pool which is open all day every day together with a bar you can get drinks & food.

Mil Palmeras is my favourite beach I absolutely love it there.. Probably after the summer months though as its packed out now. I went last week and my god it was heaving. Couldn't see the sand for bodies. All the Spanish from Barcelona & Madrid have arrived for their holidays. Great to see but there wasn't very much social distancing going on!

Mil Palmeras is a town that is located by the sea, a district dependent on the municipal term of Pilar de la Horadada (23,403 inhabitants, according to INE 2012), in the province of Alicante , Spain . It is located in the extreme south of the province of Alicante , bordering the Region of Murcia , on the Mediterranean Sea coast, municipally limiting to the north with Dehesa de Campoamor , which is a district of Orihuela and to the south with Torre de la Horadada

It is a coastal town, born as an urbanization adjacent to the coast of the municipality, it is framed next to the natural mouth of the Río Seco, a rooted river that runs about 16 km through the entire municipality of Pilar de la Horadada .

Mil Palmeras can enjoy three beaches of fine white sand: Playa de Mil Palmeras , Playa Vista Mar and Playa Rio Seco

The most important festival is the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Alegría , it is celebrated the first week of August. But not this year sadly.

In the town there are several restaurants, bars, cafes, pubs and hotels and aparthotels.

Palm trees galore!!

Beautiful...

What else has happened in July... Shall we talk about the football? I was gutted for Spain and more gutted for us to get that close and then lose on penalties.

Which was bound to happen knowing the England Football team but real shame all the same.

We had fun going out to watch the games. Supporting our local bars. Nice to see them busy with people.

This picture taken in my gorgeous village of San Miguel de Salinas. Palm tree alley we call this.. On route to the football all masked up of course.
