Simply the Best... August 2023!!

As I write my August Blog its got to be "Simply Red"

blasting out of my speakers!

Only just got through the heat of July and here comes the scorcher of August...

I just about managed to scrape through the heat.

Phew... it has been rather warm..

Hitting the 40s most days.

So.. my very Spanish Besties, Lynn & Billy got married 25yrs ago back in the UK on the 3rd August, not thinking for one minute they would be living in Spain on their 25th Wedding Anniversary.

Smack bang in the middle of Summer. How hot??

A great party was had by all for their special day. There was no way we could party in the garden, far too hot, which was no problem for Meson El Prado, they did us proud in the main room.

Once again the staff went above and beyond to look after us all as we partied away the afternoon to the great entertainer Simon Jackson Mbe. What a top lad he is too.

Check his facebook page out right here for your event or party

Lynn was one very spoilt Anniversary girl as she was whisked off to see Simply Red at The Bull Ring, Murcia. With an overnight stay at a very posh hotel. The first time she has EVER in her life been to a concert!

And what a concert to attend for your very first one!

Only the best tickets for us of course. We had VIP right at the front of the stage. No interviews this time though, as apparently Mick Hucknall doesn't do any press while he is on tour?? Come on Mick don't forget who got you to where you are today!! The fans!

Was a great gig albeit a bit short.

They only did one and half hour set and that was with an encore.

Getting on eh Mick? Who's the Daddy?

Found a great place to eat just before the gig. El Museo de la Tapa, situated just around the corner from the square that is infront of the Bull Ring.

Away from the crowds. and this is where you will find this FAB Spanish Tapas Restaurant.

The food & company of our fellow San Miguel villagers Claudine & James, was amazing.

Let's do it all again soon. Same place different gig..

Look at these nachos!

Murcia, especially around the Bull Ring is a great place to look around. Plenty of places to grab yourself Monteditos & drinks.

The Cathedral Church of Saint Mary in Murcia, commonly called the Cathedral of Murcia, is a Catholic church in the city of Murcia, Spain.

It is the only cathedral in use in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cartagena in Spain.

Hotel Occidental Murcia was a perfect stay situated near everywhere we needed to go. I think half of San Miguel was booked in as well. Room was very compfy with a great shower. It was green as well. Always a winner for me. Great breakfast in the morning. There was nothing not on the buffet.

I was honoured to DJ for my very special friends Kirsti & Kaelin's joint 50th & 18th birthday fiesta at Costa Blanca Resort Hotel, Rojales. Even though it was THE hottest day of the year.. Seriously! https://www.hotelcostablancaresort.com/

A great time was had by all. The entertainment being amazing as usual

included Spanish Dancers, the one the only Chocolate Son, myself DJing to the end of the night and last but not least the Scottish Pipe Band.

Don Spence even from your sick bed you once again smashed it by organising such a fantastic fiesta. Thank you.

Sorry I was that busy watching the amazing entertainment didn't get many pictures but for your information here's the links for all the entertainment.

Daniel and Carmina could not have done more to make it run perfectly. The food was superb, they opted for a giant paella cooked for them by the 3 times award winning paella chef for the area and boy did it live up to the hype. They also had a BBQ to die for.

People flew over from Scotland and beyond to be at this party & by the skin of his teeth Don even made it after spending a spell in hospital getting over the side effects of his chemo and radio therapy.

Well done Don so very proud of you my friend.

Hippy happy birthday Kirsty & Kaelin may the celebrations continue all year long..

As I know they will.

The celebrations for birthdays this month did not stop there. Friends Jamie & Christopher who had flew over for the big fiesta birthday shenanigans & my Stubby Hubby also had a birthday to celebrate.

First up Jamie's birthday where he opted to celebrate at a small beach club situated at the Alma Restaurant & Beach Club in La Mata.

They do packages where you buy a certain amount of drink for a certain amount of people and stay there to chill out for the afternoon. It was great.

We had a great time with these bunch of nutters.

Thanks Jamie, Christopher, Michelle, Andy of not forgetting stubby hubby Stuart. See you at the next birthday bash..

Stu's birthday of course was once again at El Prado. Arribaa!!

Was great to see Yehuda & Paula again from Holland.

The highlight for Stu this year was dinner at a fantastic Steak Restaurant we have never been to before, Las Villas in Campoamor.

Now this restaurant does not look much from the outside being situated next door to a petrol station.... but do not judge a book and go!!

From the minute we walked in the service was fantastic. Food... what can I say, we had so much to choose from it was hard. Oysters for me and as the boys had their Steaks my choice was melt in your mouth chicken. They even had the bottle of red wine I have been looking for all over. fernandez de pierola crianza 2019 it really is very smooth. Not too expensive either think it was only 10euros a bottle in this restaurant.

As much as I have enjoyed catching up with friends and partying, MY highlight of this month was FINALLY going snorkelling!! Yes I know I have been here 3 years and this is the first time I have done it. It has been far too long since last time and it will not be as long next time.

I have the snorkelling bug now. But there is a reason for the snorkelling day...

I am going scuba diving again, finally, but thats in next months blog!!

Off we went, my friend Billy & I for a day of snorkelling. We chose a small beach at Cabo Roig where we had heard the snorkelling was good.

Two hours spent in the water snorkelling around these rocks it sure was amazing.

Plenty of fish to see and even jelly fish wanting to join us.

Amazing to look at but wouldn't like to touch one.

There is even a little bar at the top looking over the beach for a well earned drink afterwards.

The directions to the the beach we went to are here..

Well my gorgeous blog readers how good am I actually getting this months out on time?
