October/Octubre

Did you know that October represents the animal DOG....

And did you know that Octobers flowers are Marigold and Cosmos?

Well you do now and so do I.

Cosmos and Marigolds, like many of our warm weather annuals, originated in Mexico ...

So yes you can find these beautiful flowers in Spain too..

Cosmos, in its annual form, is a native of Mexico. Along with taking gold, silver, and other riches from Mexico, 16th-century Spanish explorers sent hundreds of cosmos back to Madrid. Cosmos wasn’t collected until the late 1700s, however, and the flower made its way to England in 1789, thanks to the Marchioness of Bute, wife of the English ambassador to Spain.

Without mentioning the football... What a great warm, lush, emotional October it has been. I got to see my Mumzy & Tom at last!! It has been far far too long, well over a year. Not good but hey ho things are hopefully getting back to the new normal. Whatever that may be?

The weather was absolutely glorious for them. We had a great time together. Eating, drinking, meeting up with friends, bbq, Spa and of course a spoilt shopping day for me with my Mumzy while leaving Tom to chill in the sunshine looking after Minni.

In my book there is only one place we had to go to kick off their week! For a gorgeous menu del dia, our wedding venue, Meson El Prado, based in the heart of San Miguel de Salinas.

Next stop the beautiful restaurant La Herradura situated in Los Montesinos.

One of my most favourite restaurants.

The food is always top notch and of course the company too. My very special amigos..

They have many an event night too. Live Flamenco Dancing and the last Wednesday of every month The Chocolate Sound Show.

Read all about La Herradura right here via their website.

Look at these 2 enjoying the Spa...

Well.... I can't see them getting in one in their back garden back in Manchester can you?

Shopping & lunch date for me and my Mumzy at my nearest shopping center La Zenia Boulevard.

This is a fantastic shopping center, if thats what you want to call it. Its so relaxing to wander around the beautiful shops & then stop off for a bite to eat.

An open-air shopping center with more than 150 shops and a wide range of leisure and catering with all services.

We shopped till we dropped!!

Its been far too long since we did this together too because of Covid!!!

Read all about La Zenia Boulevard and what they have to offer via their website right here...

So many places to choose from to treat yourself to lunch it was hard.

We settled on this little Italian place on the top floor looking over the square.

Che Italiano...

Its Italian tappas and the food just kept on coming.

"ALL YOU CAN EAT" WITHOUT LEAVING THE TABLE

Quality and service at an unbeatable price

Trust me This restaurant is a very must to try if you are wandering around La Zenia Boulevard.

Check them out right here via their website

Thanks Mumzy it was a fantastic day.. And yes I was such a spoilt girl.. You can come again!!

So after an amazing time with my Mumzy & Tom we headed off on a little road trip, down to the little Spanish village Illar in Almeria to see my Bro & Jade..

Illar is a municipality in the Almería province, an autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain.

Íllar is located near the river Andarax, between Sierra de Gádor and Sierra Nevada. Its borders stretch from Huécija and Bentarique to the east, Instinción to the west, Alboloduy to the north, and a part of Bentarique to the south.

It's a beautiful tiny very Spanish village with amazing views of the mountains.

One Spanish bar/restaurant where we sampled the tapas and yes they were amazing tapas.

Was great to see my Bro & Jade and meet the local Parrot who by the way has no name as its owner didn't know if it was a girl or a boy!!

If your looking for a holiday home in a beautiful part of Spain then take a look at this gorgeous traditional house for sale situated in the heart of Illar.

After an emotional farewell to my Mumzy, Tom, my Bro & Jade it was back to Sunny San Miguel for me. Back to work and WOW a bit of djing with the boss..

We had a wedding to do.. Yay back on the decks. Congrats to Yan & Annette. It was a great day & a great party had by all. I even fell off the stage. Not used to being stood on a stage you see. Been too long in between djing sessions!! That's my excuse anyway.

Coopers Bar in Quesada was the wedding venue for the day & what a fantastic job they did too.

The rooms looked amazing and the food was to die for.

Coopers Bar is a family bar and restaurant. Located in dona pepa in ciudad quesada right behind the gama supermarket.

When it comes to private functions they really push the boat out.

The dj's did a great job too and if your looking for a dj for any of your parties/festivals/outside broadcasts or wedding contact Caz right here https://www.facebook.com/CazMatthews80sDJ

It was fantastic to see people back on the dance floor having a great time. Lets hope it just getting better and better from now on for all live music & venue's.

If you didn't know myself & the big boss man himself Richie Sparks are still waking up the world on BIG RADIO SPAIN with the Breakfast show. We are on 89.9 or 91,.1fm if your in and around the Costa Blanca Area or you can tune in via our website from all over the world https://www.bigradiospain.com/ we also have our very own App.. Its the future!

Oh and keep those postcards coming.. Send them direct to me via the studio.

What a very busy October it has been. The months are flying by.

As October comes to an end we still had beautiful warm nights to dine outside. Great reason to live in Spain don't you think?
